WaffleYellow labrador
Waffle
I am Mrs Field’s Labrador. I was born on 18th January 2021 and I have come to Sunny Hill every day since I was 8 weeks old. I am trained to be around children and am practising to become a Pets As Therapy dog. I have a comfy bed in Mrs Field’s office and a whole basket of toys.
I am learning to listen and try hard to make good choices and not eat doorstops. I like listening to stories and lying on my blanket during mindfulness sessions with my human friends. Being a Labrador, I like eating everything. I am very proud of the children when they eat all their food and give them a Waffle Healthy Eating sticker. I am allowed to help Jenny hoover up after lunch times, to be helpful.
I chew sticks and retrieve balls and love it when the children laugh when I do zoomies. I also like snoring.

Tortellini and Hoboherman tortoises
Tortellini and Hobo
We are 5 year old male tortoises who are used to being inside wandering around, as well as enjoying the sunshine when it is warm.
Hobo only has three legs and Mrs Field rescued him after he was found injured in some woods. Our favourite foods are dandelions, and watermelon. We like it when the children wash us gently in warm water and scrub our shells with toothbrushes. We try to hibernate from November to February but as we are still growing we don’t always hibernate at the right time.

ButtercupLop eared rabbit
Buttercup
I live at Sunny Hill and spend my time with Daisy Class, hopping in and out of the classroom and resting under the tuff tray amongst the children. I like hopping all the way into the sleep room for a rest. The Children arrive in the morning with carrot tops and broccoli from home so I always start the day with a very healthy breakfast. My favourite activity is squeezing under the fence and exploring the adventure playground. I help with the marketing for the nursery by modelling at photo shoots

Shark and other fish
Shark and other fish
Shark the Goldfish and the other fish live in Daisy class.
Our job is to help the children feel calm and settled. They come and say hello to us every day and have a go at counting us all for our Fish Register. We only like to be fed twice a week as we get tummy aches really easily.

Brain, Helen, Rosemary and RachelAfrican Land Snails
Brain, Helen, Rosemary and Rachel
Brian is one of the Sunny Hill original African Land Snails, now 5 years old.
We all live in a warm damp box and eat the children’s snack peelings. We break it down into rich compost for their planting activities. We are slow and calming and very sensory. The children are kind to us; they learn to have wet hands when they handle us so their dry skin doesn’t hurt our big foot. We love living at Sunny Hill as we cant hear so we don’t mind the noise! In the winter we live up close to a radiator so our habitat is still warm and wet. We love to eat cuttlefish to keep our shells healthy and sweet potato and strawberries. We are still growing and the children like to measure us.

Wayne, Louis and Johnstick insects
Wayne, Louis and John
We help the children learn about camouflage in nature. We like to eat fresh bramble leaves, which the children bring back from welly walks. We are growing very quickly but our skinny legs are very fragile.
